The Best Time of Year to Buy Electronics, Furniture, and More

June 22, 2026 · BirdXDeal Editorial

Retail pricing follows predictable seasonal cycles tied to new product launches and inventory clearing. Knowing the pattern beats endlessly refreshing a deals page.

  • TVs and electronics: Best in November (holiday competition) and again in late January/February, when retailers clear stock ahead of new spring lineups.
  • Laptops: Back-to-school (July–August) and Black Friday are the two real windows. Buying in March or April, right after new models launch, is usually the worst time.
  • Furniture and mattresses: January (new-year clearance) and Memorial Day/Labor Day weekends tend to have the deepest markdowns.
  • Fitness gear: Ironically, late January has real discounts — retailers overstock for New Year's resolutions and need to move inventory a few weeks later.
  • Kitchen appliances: September/October, when new models are announced, is when older (still perfectly good) models get marked down.

None of this means you should never buy off-season — a genuinely tracked low price is a genuinely tracked low price whenever it happens. But if you can wait, timing it to the category's real cycle stacks the odds in your favor.
