A rough framework:
- Estimate honestly how many times you'll actually use it — not how many times you imagine using it.
- Divide price by that number.
- Compare that number, not the sticker price, against alternatives.
This is especially useful for anything marketed on convenience or novelty — kitchen gadgets, fitness equipment, and single-purpose electronics are the categories where cost-per-use most often reveals the sticker price was misleading.
